Breda is a peaceful, wonderful place where you can relax, take long walks in the nature, along the river, in the woods, on the fields. There are very good restaurants and pubs in Breda, friendly people everywhere. Nothing and nobody disturbs you ever! It is the right place to rethink your entire life and put everything in a new light! I strongly recommend Breda as a starting point for those who want to know Netherlands!

We visited close friends, so it was a holiday trip but not for sight- seeing. Breda itself has not much to offer, it is a mid-size town with a pedestrian zone in the center but no real highlights. Apart from the usual shops there are some nice restaurants and bars, but you have to know them. Compared to Amsterdam f.e. it lacks all the tourist attraction, so no canals or coffee shops. a bit plain, typical dutch.

Nice pups and restaurants.
Nice pups and restaurants. Easy shopping, good quality shops.
Rent a hotel in the centre or rent a car. No trams in the city, like Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Hotels in the city can be expensive, just because they are in the city. But not necessarily good.

It has a very small cozy city center but, depending on what you like, it has enough entertainment.
I took the tour in the cathedral and went up to the tower. Walked around the city center, went to the park, stond on the "Hoge Brug"... You can visit the begijnenhof and go to a couple of more museums. Also the Natural park De Biesbosch is 30km from Breda.

A well located attractive town with good access to major routes and a fabulous train station with regular connections to other towns such as Rotterdam and Utrecht. Breda has a great range of upmarket chain stores and independent shops.
This hotel was amazing- it was seriously the most amazing place. Super comfortable, large, cozy, and the best staff ever. This hotel was the most pleasant surprise - it was gorgeous! The bed was also huge and super comfy and inviting. There was also a huge tub that I would have used it it wasn’t so warm out (and we were busy in the cute town of Breda). I cannot wait to come back to this hotel and relax in the gorgeous environment. I wish I took more pictures!
Breakfast was fine and lovely prepared in a picnic hamper :) the situation altogether is rather private, so one doesn't feel like in a hotel. For dogs the environment is more than ok, they could run on the property together with the owners dogs (even a basin to swim is there).
The house is easy to approach (not far away from a highway but still quiet) and a bit outside of town. A Chinese restaurant by the way is in walking distance.
I had booked this hotel for a friend of mine who visited us in Breda. Hotel Van Ham is perfectly located on a cosy square with several good restaurants and the delicious bakery Van Thillo is just around the corner. The room was comfortable and had a nice view on the Grote Kerk (large church) of Breda. The staff was very friendly and my friend told me that the breakfast was delicious.
Fred the host was very helpful with everything that we requested, from helping with operating the washer/dryer to giving us directions and tips on navigating the Netherlands for the first time. He responded to our messages in a timely manner and always had a smile on his face to greet us. I hope to stay here again in the next year or so.
Only stayed for one night to attend a Go_A gig at 'Mezz', which was about 60 seconds walk away, wish I'd had more time to enjoy both the hotel and Breda, would definitely return for a longer visit.
Hotel was fantastic, immaculate, brilliant friendly staff, and my room was absolutely first class !
I had a series of long days before
I checked in on 19th evening.
Tiring flight, had to talk a walk from Breda station to the hotel wth a luggage due to strike.
When i reached the desk to check in,
the person helping me check in was so kind and friendly.
I felt so welcomed abd over the moon..
location was super great! incoporation of the old monastery/church into a modern hotel is excellently done. very polite en helpfull personall. super tidy rooms, great breakfast. I'll absolute will return there someday
breakfast, room, bed, pool, environment all was exceptional. staff was also very helpful and friendly. second time i had visited the hotel and would definitely go again
